A third design used a unibody polycarbonate shell as aluminum is now reserved for the higher-end Mac Book Pro .the Mac Book was quietly discontinued for consumer purchase in favor of the new Mac Book Air. Apple continued to sell the Mac Book to educational institutions until February 2012.
